How to Eliminate Air Pockets on Large Slabs

Comb the Mortar: Apply thinset adhesive to both the subfloor and the back of the large format tile using a proper notched trowel (directional troweling).
Place the Slab: Carefully position the large slab onto the adhesive bed using suction cups.
Beat the Air Out: Place the tile beating block near the center, and tap the handle firmly with a mallet, or press down while rocking it. Slide the block outward toward the edges to push all trapped air out of the grout joints.
