How to Inspect and Maintain Your 30KV Dielectric Helmet
Working around high-voltage equipment requires absolute discipline. A hairline crack filled with sweat or moisture can ruin the dielectric properties of the finest ABS shell. Follow this mandatory inspection routine before entering any high-tension zone:
1. The Visual Shell Audit
Hold the white shell under a bright light. Inspect the seamless dome for deep scratches, gouges, or color fading caused by excessive UV exposure. If the ABS material shows signs of chalking or brittleness, replace the helmet immediately.
2. Check for Cleanliness (The Sweat Factor)
Dried sweat leaves behind microscopic salt crystals, which can act as a conductive path for high-voltage arcs. Regularly wipe down the interior harness and the exterior smooth shell with mild soap and warm water. Never use harsh chemical solvents that can degrade the ABS polymer matrix.
3. Zero-Alteration Policy
To maintain the full 30,000V insulation rating, never drill holes into the shell for custom straps, and do not apply adhesive stickers that contain metallic inks or foils. The shell must remain completely stock and pristine to guarantee your safety against sudden arc flashes.
